NCC explores World of Warcraft !
A few years ago, Blizzard unleashed World of Warcraft upon this world. World of Warcraft is a Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, often shortened to mmorpg, with a large variety of classes and races that players can choose from. From the dawn of this game, players have been competing amongst each other on the war torn lands of Kalimdor, the Eastern Kingdoms, Outlands and now even Northrend.
Over the last 5 years that World of Warcraft has been live, the competitive aspect of the game continuously evolved, resulting in the current eSport viable arena concept. This arena is, as one might guess going by its name, an arena based 2vs2, 3vs3 or 5vs5 death match with the dominant format being the 3vs3 one, seeing as it is the most balanced.
Only a small part of the much richer game that World of Warcraft is, the arena game has been lifted out of it and condensed into the 2010 World of Warcraft Arena Pass event. As opposed to the live servers, here everyone will fight with the same gear, guaranteeing that skill is more important than how much time you spent collecting gear.
More and more offline events are being organized as well, using the same setting as the World of Warcraft Arena Pass event. Events such as the Intel Extreme Masters with substantial prize purses have solidified WoW arena as a mature eSport genre.
And so NCC is looking into expanding and taking in a World of Warcraft Arena team. If you or your team thinks you got what it takes, you can always contact us on xfire (spydle), mirc (#ncc at quakenet), leave a comment in the newspost or sent a private message to Spydl.
